Automotive
and EMC Conferences
30th
Annual EOS/ESD Symposium
September
7-12, 2008 at the Westin La Paloma, Tucson, Arizona, USA.
This is one of the most undervalued areas of EMC in our opinion and one
of the best events that attempts to right this.
Their programme is certainly one of the most comprehensive pre-conference
documents we have seen and there are seminars or workshops aimed at every level.

Design
Solar
Panels to Assist Prius AC
According
to rumours, Toyota are looking at installing photovoltaic roof panels on the
next generation Prius to power the air conditioning system.
Although a laudable aim, the power available will be unable to fully run
the AC and the payback period for the carbon reduction of PV cells will easily
exceed the lifetime of a Prius in typical use?
As a Prius fan I hope this proves to be an unfounded rumour.

BMW

In
the US GM were one of the first major marques to have renewable energy vehicles
with their unfortunately unsuccessful electric EV1, but more recently Toyota and
Honda have shown very clear leadership in the development of cleaner propulsion
with practical hybrid vehicles. Finally
a European marques are waking up, with the help of Zytek the Daimler-Mercedes
Smart electric concept car has been trialled and now BMW are joining the fray
with an electric Mini trial.

Forums Blosom
Some
time ago there were few forums on the internet where anyone could express their
queries or comments about EMC and the general community, EMC Blog while it
existed was a very one sided affair. The
trade press are introducing such forums and
Interference Technology appears to be leading the way.
